Elissa began her journey with yoga in 2006, when she moved to France, making the practice part of her daily routine. She came to view yoga as a lifestyle, not just physicality, which helped her clear her mind and have more compassion for herself and for others. In 2010, she moved to New York and completed her teacher training at Laughing Lotus, a creative, soulful yoga studio that teaches students to "move like yourself." She has been teaching vinyasa classes in Manhattan and Brooklyn ever since. In the summer, she conducts yoga and writing retreats in France with Cambridge Writers Workshop. She recently completed her advanced studies at ISHTA yoga (The Integrated sciences of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda).
The practice she facilitates helps students arrive at a peaceful place imbued with a sense of rejuvenation and a clear mind.
Her classes focus on awareness of body alignment and breath-initiated movement, all in the spirit of playful exploration. Students are invited to go at their own pace and to enjoy having personal experiences of the postures. Yoga brings the inspiration gained in its physical practice into living, and into the present moment.
